The beach is also one of the best surf spots in the country.

THE CONCEPT
This boutique hotel is all about embracing the incredible surroundings, making you feel as close to nature as possible. With no windows, you feel like you're sleeping next to the beach with the sound of gentle lapping waves. You wake to hear monkeys playing in the trees, and peacocks doing their morning dance. You also get the best air conditioning in Sri Lanka: a gentle cooling sea breeze.
Jasper House has the feel of a treehouse, yet all the benefits of modern luxury. Combining the two is genius - and celebrates the best of Sri Lanka.
THE VIEW FROM BREAKFAST
THE SETTING
The hotel is situated just 100 metres from Hiriketya Beach, a beautiful horseshoe bay which is a hidden gem of the south. The golden sandy beach is ideal for swimming, and even has a gentle all-year-round surf break, perfect for beginners. For more advanced surfers, there is a reef break a little further out. The hotel is surrounded by a well established coconut tree plantation.
Jasper House is ideal for those who want to spoil themselves with a touch of seclusion, yet also be right next to one of the best beaches in the country.
VIEW FROM THE SHOWER
THE ROOMS
12 villa style rooms. Most overlook the ocean or coconut plantation, while the lower rooms have direct access to the pool. The upper floors are all open air; without glass. The shower (also open air) hangs slightly out of the room, giving the feel it's even closer to the coconut trees. The genius of the design is that each open air room is completely private.
A mosquito net is provided around the four poster bed complete with luxurious sheets.
Heaven in the jungle!
HIRIKETIYA BEACH IS SUITABLE FOR ALL TYPES OF SURFING EXPERIENCE
THE ACTIVITIES
Surfing is available for all levels and the resort hires out boards for those who don't have their own. The beach is also perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
Push bikes are available for a cycle through the beautiful jungle tracks and you can also arrange a trip to the nearby turtle sanctuary or even a safari.
The hotel has a beautiful pool under the coconut trees. We watched dozens of monkeys play in the treetops while enjoying a much needed break from the heat.
There's also a top floor lounge for relaxing, eating, or reading books and magazines.
BREAKFAST FROM THE TOP DECK
THE FOOD
A chef is always on-site at the top level deck to prepare food. The breakfast buffet includes fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs (any way you like), toast and jams with fresh fruit juices and tea/coffee. If the buffet is not available, you can order off an a-la-carte menu. Dinner options are displayed on a board each night; we were lucky enough to try the head chef's version of a traditional Sri Lankan curry (exceptionally good!). The one thing better than the food is their friendliness - a chef even offered us his birthday cake for dessert!

THE SERVICE
The service was wonderful - from the warm greeting as soon as we arrived to the sincere farewell from the manager, Charith. The staff here are all incredibly genuine and will do anything to make your stay comfortable.
