Located close enough to Phuket town and Kata for action, yet far enough to get away from the chaos
Incredible service - the owner has meticulously handpicked the best staff
THE CONCEPT
The Baan Phu Prana is a grand Thai villa sitting atop a steep hill, between two of the most beautiful bays in all of Phuket.
White and purple bougainvillea line the balconies, and inside the hallways are elegantly decorated with modern, local and quirky art pieces - some of which will have you doing a double take.
It's the perfect place if you want to get away from the personalityless chain resorts and treat yourself to something a little more memorable: this place is truly unique, with every detail meticulously thought of.
THE SETTING
With sweeping views of the ocean and surrounding area you'll find it hard to venture far from this oasis that sits amidst mature tropical jungle, between Surin and Bangtao beach.
Turin Beach is just a short stroll away and at the bottom of the driveway you'll conveniently arrive at the best pizzeria in Phuket - Boccocino.
Patong Beach is a 25 minute drive away
Kata Beach is a 43 minute drive away
Phuket central market is a 36 minute drive away
The pier for Phi Phi island departures is a 40-50 minute drive away
THE ROOMS
With only 12 rooms it's easy to see why this place is such a tranquil escape from resort-style accomodation.
There are 7 room types to choose from with some having sweeping ocean views, or garden views.
The bed was the most comfortable we've encountered on our 15-months of travelling the world so we promise this place won't disappoint if you're in need of a good night's rest!
Some rooms also come with hot tubs overlooking the bay, complete with a sliding window to feel the fresh sea breeze.
THE ACTIVITIES
The Villa has a small gym, a yoga pavilion and sauna which are all free of charge and available 24/7. There's also a spa that features heavenly treatments.
The rooftop pool is also open whenever you wish to use it, with pool-side service available from 8am - 11pm daily.
Besides relaxing at the villa there are plenty of options for day trips in and around Phuket. Our favourites would include a day trip to one of the outer islands (like Koh Phi Phi) relaxing at Surin beach, shopping at one of the beautiful boutiques that seem to be abundant in this area and visiting a fine-dining restaurant at one of the resorts in the Laguna area.
Other options include water sports, visits to Phuket town, and the tourist capital of Kata and Patong beaches are not far away.
THE FOOD
We enjoyed daily breakfast on the rooftop from 8.30am every morning. This included a fruit plate to share, tea or coffee, a huge jug of juice, bio (organic) coconut flavoured yoghurt, croissants and baguette pieces, freshly cut meats and choice of egg dish.
THE SERVICE
Being a boutique villa the staff are warm and welcoming as you'd expect. The general manager - Woody - was exceptional and will ensure your stay is the best it can be.
