FOUR HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. The ultra-lux spaciousness of the Villas - you won't find bigger in Siem Reap

  2. Breakfast in bed, or even by your own pool

  3. Exclusivity of the villas - each villa is designed to feel like it's own exclusive retreat.

  4. Templation's main pool. It's huge! The second biggest in Siem Reap

THE CONCEPT

'Travel means cultural emersion' is a great tagline used by this boutique resort chain and this really shines through at Templation resort. The company (MAADS) which owns Templation (and has many other resorts throughout the capital Phnom Penh) is also currently involved in a huge project to create a massive floating arts centre.

The resort is based on sustainable-luxury, and this is evident as soon as you step into the candle-lit reception, with designer furniture on either side of the entrance.

The entrance is dramatic: water pours from the plant embellished rooftops, and into a blue pool - on which floats a walkway you will enter the resort on.

Upon your arrival, you'll be taken into the dining area, where you will be welcomed with an iced ginger tea and a refreshing towel.

Templation Resort is a sister property of another great resort we recommend, Tea House Hotel in Phnom Penh - Click here for our review on this property.

THE SETTING

Temptation is an eco-resort just outside the bustling city of Siem Reap, only a 10-minute drive from the beautiful Angkor Wat Temple complex.

Templation is an oasis, set among idyllic water features, Cambodian jungle plants and it's huge centrepiece - the second largest pool in Siem Reap.

Each room is beautifully covered in jungle plants and creepers (best displayed on this photo below) to give the feeling of a Garden of Eden.

THE ROOMS

With only three room options it makes the decision easy: villa, villa with a private pool or ultra-large villa with private pool.

Having your own private plunge pool can sometimes be a waste of money as it's hardly ever used, however the pools here are incredible and we spent most of our time soaking in the refreshing blue waters with drinks. The pools even have inbuilt spa jets - they are worth every cent!

The bathroom amenities are mostly organic, including the complimentary, all natural mosquito repellent. We stayed during the monsoon season which causes a huge rise in mosquitos, however we had no problems at all with them here.

THE ACTIVITIES

If you're able to tear yourself away from the tranquility of the resort grounds - there are of course many options for activities. Here are just a few of the more unique options that Templation Resort offers its guests:

  • Bicycle tours of the Angkor temples with grasshopper bike adventures.

  • Traditional Cambodian circus at Phare circus, which combines modern arts with local dance.

  • A Cambodian cooking class using fresh, organic produce - taught by a local chef.

  • Photography tours to make the most of your time in the city, to share the best of your memories through beautiful images captured by you!

  • Visit the only Microbrewery in Siem Reap to taste delicious craft beer.

  • Visit Mahob Restaurant for the best of traditional Khmer cuisine.

THE FOOD

There are two dining options at Templation - either in the main restaurant and bar area overlooking the lush gardens and huge pool, or in your private villa.

There's a lounge and dining area next to the restaurant also, with comfortable couches and the perfect place to watch a bit of television, chill with your laptop or enjoy your favourite book with a cocktail in hand.

We were treated to the candlelit poolside dinner, and couldn't recommend that more for the romance and incredible food - prepared especially to your tastes by the head chef.

THE SERVICE

The service at Templation can't be faulted.

The reception staff will greet you warmly by name each time you leave or enter the resort.

Our arrival drinks were served with a special welcome from the general manager, who wished us an enjoyable stay and gave us all the information we required to make the most of our time in Siem reap.

Room staff will even bow as they pass you walking in the grounds - such beautiful service.
